Thank you to our Volunteer Advocates!

Become a Volunteer Advocate: Receive free, 40-hour training to become a Certified Advocate in the State of Oregon! Volunteers take 3-5 help/crisis line shifts per month with staff back-up provided. Calls can be received on either a cell phone or land line and are transferrred to the volunteer from our 24 hour answering service. Volunteers provide supportive listening, resource referral and safety planning. Volunteers are also supported 24/7 by experienced staff advocates.

SAFE’s crisis line receives between 700 to 1,400 phone calls per year. We know that the help line is often a survivor’s first attempt at reaching out for help. That’s why it is so important to have compassionate, committed advocates to answer their call. Please consider donating your time to help SAFE maintain this life-saving service.

Volunteer on our Fundraiser Planning Committee which meets throughout the year.

Prevention internships are also an option for volunteering. Volunteers are provided training opportunities throughout the year.

Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at susanb@safeofcolumbiacounty.org for more information on volunteering with SAFE and don’t forget to “like” our Facebook page for updates about volunteer trainings and opportunities.
